Damien is an extremely knowledgeable and kind therapist - and has added-value to my life through therapy from our first appointment.

Damien is great. He helped me work through some anxiety and depression issues I had been dealing with for years before deciding to talk to someone about them.

Damien is an extremely knowledgeable and kind therapist - and has added value to my life through therapy from our first appointment. I appreciate his ability to talk through grief, anxiety and life questions with both psychological and philosophical insights.

Damien earned a BA (Vanderbilt) and PhD (CUNY Graduate Center) in Philosophy, and his MA in Applied Psychology (Mental Health Counseling) from NYU Steinhardt. In nearly 20 years in New York City he has moved from teaching Philosophy in colleges to to research, writing, training, and management in the corporate world, to being a psychotherapist.

In treatment, Damien applies his varied background along with his expertise in Philosophy to his experience and training with Adlerian, Existentialist, CBT, REBT, and Rogerian therapy methods. Damien believes that the core of successful therapy is a therapeutic alliance based on mutual respect and trust, and uses the alliance to help patients flourish via improving critical thinking, goal setting, and problem solving, as well in developing a better understanding of the nature and usefulness of emotions. He has particular interest in issues surrounding anxiety, depression, identity, stress, trauma, medical conditions, and disability.
