Life inevitably has its ups and downs, and it’s not always easy to go through life by yourself. Even if you have a supportive environment with friends and family, there are times that you might need something else. I believe that therapy is that “something else” that you feel you might be missing. It can be scary going to therapy, which is why one of my main goals as a therapist is to help my clients feel safe and supported. I believe having a strong therapeutic relationship is one of the biggest predictors of a successful outcome, and my hope is to foster this connection in each session. I plan to create this supportive, non-judgmental, respectful, and understanding environment while working on goals that we establish in the first few sessions. Collaboration is important and we will work together to get through the challenges you may be facing.
I have had the privilege of being born and raised in New York. For my undergraduate education, I studied psychology at Queens College which led me to discover my passion for the subject. This passion was further cemented in my graduate studies at Long Island University Post, where I received my master’s degree in applied psychology. My academic programs and experiences enabled me to develop the skills I need to treat clients successfully. I am currently in a master’s in mental health counseling program at Manhattan University, in the Bronx. Going through my higher education in several boroughs of New York has allowed me the opportunity to interact with clients of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
My therapy style lies in the third wave of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), specifically Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT). I believe that this style of therapy is most effective when treating individuals while maintaining the environment I seek to foster. The main challenges that I address are anxiety, depression, perfectionism, anger, and OCD.
Outside of the therapy room I love spending time with my wife and daughter. I also enjoy playing the piano and gardening.
