Born and raised in China, Jie has always been interested in how people become who they are in relationship to other people and their environment. Jie completed her Bachelor of Arts and Science degree in Honours Cognitive Science at McGill University in Canada. She then moved to New York to continue her studies at Columbia University and received her Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees in Mental Health Counseling. Jie incorporates both Western and Eastern philosophies and is open to new ideas and various approaches.
Jie has been trained in several modalities including Person-Centered Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Rational-Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT) and Multicultural Counseling. Jie utilizes techniques from different approaches to help clients in need. Jie is also an actor at New York Mandarin Playback, where she integrates psychology and acting to provide a different approach for emotion expression and understanding.
Jie provides psychotherapy in both English and Mandarin. Areas of clinical experiences include anxiety, depression, identity issues, relationship difficulties, self-esteem and family distress. She is a member of the American Counseling Association and New York Mental Health Counselors Association.
